Celtic 1 v 0 St Mirren, League plus Caithness, Shetland & Orkney Doo - 09/04/11

For the second season, Caithness Celtic Supporters' Club joined Orkney and Shetland for a league match and function at Parkhead.

With an average age of +/- 40 on the Caithness bus, it was a battle to see who would last longest in this marathon weekend!!!

On arrival in the Gorbals and a quick freshen up in our digs for the weekend, it was a visit to the well known, Brazen Head where we listened to the band that would be playing for us later on that night and Wood group chairman, Jimmy Manson joined us.

The 'bar bird' obviously saw us for what we were (over 40's) and offered us a free bus pass up to the game, which we kindly accepted. Little did we know, though - that there was a competition organised that day for how many Tic supporters can you fit into a single decker, in tropical conditions...!!! I think the number ended up being 80-odd!

The match versus St Mirren didn't come to much but we took the win and prepared for the function.

Tic shop man, Jamie Gunn; oil man, Davie Oman and local celebrity, Derek Taylor joined us for the evening, just to keep the average age to a level (???), and a great night was had by all.

Everyone, surprisingly, gathered their gear sharpish in the morning, said their goodbye's to the other clubs and we shot up the road reminiscing of the previous night. Well, had to have a couple of necessary pit stops.

A great weekend from start to finish - HAIL-HAIL.
