Indoor Championships, Glasgow - 2008

Caithness Amateur Athletic Club had 2 athletes attending the recent age group indoor championships and multi-events championships in Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.

Sam O'Kane and Andrew Raeburn competed in the under 17 boys age group and both gave very encouraging performances, which should stand them in good stead for the forthcoming outdoor track & field season.

Results:-

Age group championships:-

• Sam O'Kane -
  • Shot Putt; 11.18 metres a personal best, which earned him 6th place and;
  • Triple Jump; 10.14 metres which earned him 10th place.
• Andrew Raeburn -
  • Triple Jump; 12.74 metres which earned him 3rd place and;
  • 400m; 52.16secs which earned him 3rd place.

Multi-events championships:-

• Sam O'Kane -
  • Long Jump; 4.84 metres,
  • 60m hurdles; 10.22 secs,
  • High Jump; 1.68 metres (personal best),
  • Shot Putt; 11.67 metres (personal best) and;
  • 1000 metres; 3.34.08, this gave Sam a total of 2335 points which earned him 9th place, which is very encouraging as this is Sam's first year in this age group.
• Andrew Raeburn -
  • Long Jump; 6.09 metres,
  • 60m Hurdles; 9.58 secs,
  • High Jump; 1.65 metres,
  • Shot Putt;12.51 metres and;
  • 1000 metres; 2.54.77, this gave Andrew a total of 3086 points which earned him the unenviable 4th place.
