

Scottish Schools Track and Field Championships, Grangemouth - 14/06/2008

The Scottish School Athletics Championships took place on the 13th and 14th of June in Grangemouth.
Over 2000 pupils from schools all over Scotland completed in the two day event. Six of these athletes attend Thurso High School and each of the six athletes competed to the very best of their abilities and were awarded for their efforts.
There were two athletes competing in the 'D' Girls competition. Shannon Eyers who came 4th in her heat for the 75m hurdles with a time of 15.77s and who also came 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 20.63m. Emma Dunnett who was also competing in the 'D' Girls age group ran 5.20.08mins for the 1500m which gained her a 6th place in her heat.
Natasha Morris and Hannah Paterson were also representing Thurso High School in the 'C' Girls age group. Natasha Morris gained a 6th place in Javelin with a throw of 20.16m and she throw 24.94m in the Discus which rewarded her with a 3rd place. Hannah Paterson competed in the 75m Hurdles and ran a time of 13.32s which took her to 5th in her heat. She also competed in the High Jump and came 10th= with her jump of 1.35m.
In the 'B' Boys age group Sam O'Kane and Craig Spargo competed. Sam O'Kane gained a 3rd place in Discus with a throw of 37.02m and he also gained a 4th place in Hammer with a throw of 35.56m. Craig Spargo competed in the Javelin event and threw 40.92m awarded him 8th place.
