BoS Scottish Combined Events Championships, Perth - 13&14/09/08

In other news, Sam O'Kane represented the Caithness Amateur Athletic Club in the Under 17 Men's Octathlon at the Bank of Scotland Scottish Combined Events Championships which took place in Perth on the 13th and 14th of September.

An Octathlon is when the competitors take part in eight events over two days and the final positions are decided by the accumulated points total after all the events are finished.

Sam's results are as follows:

• Long Jump - 5.30m.
• Discus - 33.65m.
• Javelin - 31.05m.
• 400m - 62.36s.
• 100m Hurdles - 17.99s.
• High Jump - 1.73m.
• Shot Putt - 11.70m.
• 1500m - 5.39.02mins.

Sam's effort in all of these events meant that he was awarded the bronze medal and ended the 2008 track and field session on a high.
