Young Athletes League - Round 2, Inverness - 24/05/2009

The second Scottish Young Athletes league took place in Inverness on Sunday the 24th May. Nine athletes from the Caithness Amateur Athletic club were chosen to represent Team HIPPO at this event. All the nine athletes that went to the competition competed to the best of their abilities and they were all rewarded with good results for their efforts.

Rhiannon Kirk, an under 11 girl, ran in the 800m event in a time of 3.03.95mins and came 3rd in the A string. She also took part in the 4x 100m Relay who finished 2nd with a time of 68.16s.

Hannah MacLeod ran the 800m race in the Under 13 Girls age group. She ran it in the time of 2.55.84mins and finished 2nd in the B string.

In the Under 15 Girls age group two Caithness Athletes were competing for Team Hippo.

Shannon Eyers competed in the 75m Hurdles race and finished 3rd in the A string with a time of 13.78s. Shannon also competed in the Discus and Shot Putt event.  In the Discus Shannon throw 17.26m and came 1st in the A string and in the Shot Putt she threw 6.77m which rewarded her with a 2nd in the B string.

Sarah Henderson was the other Under 15 Girl from the Caithness Amateur Athletic Club who was competing for Team HIPPO. Sarah ran in the 800m in a time of 2.43.25mins which allowed her to finish 5th in the A string. Sarah also competed in the High Jump event. She jumped 1.20m and she was rewarded with a 3rd in the B string.

One athlete from the Caithness Amateur Athletic Club competed for Team HIPPO in the Under 15 Boys age group. Dean Britton n the Discus event and he throw 18.95m which awarded him a 6th on the A string.

Hannah Paterson, Leanne Eyers and Natasha Morris were the three Caithness Under 17 Women representatives for the Team.

Hannah Paterson competed in the 80m hurdles, she ran it in 16.07s and finished 4th in the A string. Hannah Paterson and Leanne Eyers both competed in the 800m. Hannah ran it in 3.00.51mins which rewarded her with 2nd place in the A string and Leanne Eyers ran it in 3.06.62 mins which resulted in her getting 1st in B string. Leanne Eyers also competed in the 1500m event she ran it in 6.32.87mins and she finished 3rd in the A string.

Natasha Morris Competed in the Discus, High Jump and Shot Putt events. Natasha came 1st in the B string after she throw 27.41m, she came 3rd in the B string after she jumped 1.35m and after a throw of 8.88m in the Shot Putt event Natasha finished 2nd in the A string.

Sam O'Kane was the only Under 17 Man to compete for Team HIPPO. Sam competed in the Discus event, he throw 37.30m and he finished 1st in the A string.
