Highland & Grampian Regional Championships, Inverness - 08/05/2010

The Highlands, Islands and Grampion Regional Championships was the latest stage for 27 of CAACs athletes on the 8th May. With the sun shining on Queens Park in Inverness, the athletes collectively won 14 Gold medals, 12 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals amidst many personal best performances. With the busy summer calendar, this championship also combined as the second round of the HIPPO series which meant the U11 age groups could also compete.

With so many excellent performances its difficult to single out individuals, however, performances from Shannon Eyers (Javelin), Natasha Morris (Discus), Ian MacKay (Javelin) and James Hawes (Discus & Shot Putt) not only earned them PBs in their respective age groups, but also put them in 1st place in the Scottish rankings. The throws from Shannon and Natasha also mean they have achieved the UK 100 standard and are currently both ranked 10th in the UK.

Also making the UK 100 standard was Sam O'Kane with his PB in the Shot Putt, and along with the Discus and Hammer throws, earned him 3 Gold medals. There were loads of PBs on the track as well including Liam MacAdie notching another win in the U15B 100m with a new PB of 12.40s.
