The first league meeting of the Track & Field season started on the 25th April in Inverness for 32 CAAC athletes.
The U11 girls team got off to a good start, putting themselves in 2nd place. In the 100m race, Rachel Cowie came 6th in the A'string, with a time of 17.23s and Stephanie Eyers came 3rd in the B string race with a time of 17.28s. In the 600m race, Gabrielle MacGregor came 2nd in the A string with a time of 2:08.02 and Rachel Cowie also came 2nd in the B string with a time of 2:18.21. The 4x100m relay team - Stephanie, Rachel, Gabrielle and Lucy McIntosh, came 2nd with a time of 1:09.59.

In the Javelin, Lucy McIntosh came 2nd in the A string with a throw of 6.34m and Errin Britton also came 2nd in the B string with a throw of 5.57m. In the long jump, Gabrielle came 2nd in the A string with a jump of 2.85m and Stephanie came 3rd in the B string with a jump of 2.62m.
The U11 boys team also placed 2nd on the day. This was an excellent result considering they only had a 3 strong team so could not field a relay team. In the 100m race, Cameron Earnshaw came 5th in the A string race with a time of 17.56s and Stuart Kirk came 2nd in the B string race with a time of 17.92s. In the 600m race, Stuart came 6th in the A string with a time of 2:15.89 and Cameron came 4th in the B string with a time of 2:28.33s.
At the Shot Putt, Cameron came 3rd in the A string with a throw of 4.72m and Harry Bishop came 2nd in the B string with a throw of 4.38m. Stuart and Harry both came 1st place in the High Jump with 1.05m and 0.95m in the A and B strings respectively.
In a strong field, the U13 girls team faired well ending the day in 4th place. In the 100m race, Rhiannon Kirk came 6th in the A string with a time of 16.58s and Alex Paul came 5th in the B string with a time of 17.43s. In the 1200m race, Kerrie Martin came 6th in the A string with a time of 4:59.76s, and Rhianna Urquhart came 4th in the B string with a time of 6:07.46s. In the 200m race, Kerrie came 6th in the A string with a time of 33.27s, and Alex came 5th in the B string with a time of 36.13s. In the 4x100m relay, the girls came 4th with a time of 1:09.56s.

At the Discus, Kerrie and Rhianna both came 4th with throws of 13.42m and 7.35m in the A and B strings respectively. In the long jump, Rhiannon came 6th in the A string with a jump of 2.89m, and Alex came 5th in the B string with a jump of 2.52m.
The U13 boys team also ended the day in 4th place. In the 100m race, Shaun Gunn came 7th in the A string with a time of 17.55s, and Kane Webber came 2nd in the B string with a time of 15.86s. In the 200m race, Ian MacKay and Kane both came 2nd with times of 29.05s and 33.17s in the A and B strings respectively. In the 1500m, Mark O'Brien came 3rd in the A string with a time of 5:47.67s.
In the High Jump, Ian came 1st in the A string with a jump of 1.30m. At the Shot Putt, Shaun and Ian both came 2nd place with throws of 8.13m and 6.09m in the A and B string respectively.
The U15 girls team ended the day in 2nd place. In the 100m race, despite a nasty fall at the finishing line, Shannon Eyers came 2nd place in the A string with a time of 14.51s and Hannah MacLeod also came 2nd in the B string with a time of 14.61s. In the 200m race, Sarah came 2nd place in the A string with a time of 28.76s and Sharon MacKay came 3rd in the B string with a time of 30.76s. The 1500m saw Sarah take 1st place in the A string in a time of 5:34.11s and Hannah MacLeod also took the 1st place in the B string with a time of 5:54.53s. The 4x100m relay team - Sarah, Sharon, Hannah and Martha Garbe took 2nd place with a time of 59.27s.

The Javelin took place just after the 100m race that Shannon had taken a tumble, and as a result she only threw one trial. Throwing in the A string, she still managed a 1st place with a throw of 21.80m. Martha Garbe came 4th in the B string with a throw of 9.34m. In the High Jump, Sarah and Martha both jumped a height of 1.30m, coming 3rd in the A string and 2nd in the B string respectively.
The U15 boys team ended the day in 1st place. As with the U11B, this was a great result considering they only had a 3 strong team so no points were gained from the relay races. Dominating the 100m race, Liam MacAdie and Craig Wares both came 1st with times of 12.78s and 13.78s in the A and B strings respectively. The 200m race saw the same pattern, with Liam and Craig taking 1st place with times of 26.69s and 27.99s respectively. In the 1500m race, Dean Britton came 5th in the A string with a time of 5:33.34s.
In the Triple Jump, Liam came 2nd in the A string with jump of 10.04m and Dean came 1st in the B string with a jump of 7.39m. In the Javelin, Craig came 3rd in the A string with a throw of 25.73m and Dean came 2nd in the B string with a throw of 14.39m.

Fielding a full team of 4, the U17 Womens team ended the day in 2nd place. Starting the day with the 300m Hurdle race was Hannah Paterson, coming 3rd in the a string with a time of 1:00.32s and Kate Henderson, coming 2nd in the B string with a time of 1:03.34s In the 100m race, Kate came 3rd in the A string with a time of 15.69s and Natasha Morris came 2nd in the B string with a time of 15.15s. In the 1500m race, Sarah MacKinnon came 4th in the A string with a time of 5:44.59s and Hannah Paterson came 2nd in the B string with a time of 6:31.33s. The 4x100m relay team - Natasha, Sarah, Kate and Hannah, came 2nd place with a time of 59.70s.
In the Javelin, Natasha and Hannah both came 2nd place with a throws of 26.03m and 14.91m in the A and B strings respectively.
The U17 Men also ended the day in 2nd place. They started the track events with a 400m Hurdles where Rob Murdoch came 3rd in the A string with a time of 1:18.15s and Andrew Nicholson came 2nd in the B string with a time of 1:10.50s. In the 100m race, Ruaridh Gallagher and Andrew both came 2nd place with times of 13.19s and 13.17s in the A and B strings respectively. In the 1500m, Rob came 3rd in the A string with a time of 5:04.87s and Andrew came 2nd in the B string with a time of 5:10.31s. The 4x100m relay team - Ruaridh, Andrew, Rob and Andrew Martin, came 3rd with a time of 56.46s.
In the High Jump, Ruaridh came 2nd in the A string with a jump of 1.35m. In the Shot Putt, Ruaridh came 3rd in the A string with a throw of 6.21m and Andrew Martin came 2nd in the B string with a throw of 4.28m.
Sam O'Kane was our only senior male competitor, taking part in the Shot Putt, he came 3rd place with a throw of 11.14m.
