National Closed Scottish Championships, Wishaw - 15&16/05/2010

Following on from their success at the Highlands, Islands and Grampian Regional Championships, Natasha Morris and Shannon Eyers made their way to the National Closed Scottish Championships at Wishaw in Lanarkshire last weekend.

Currently both ranked number one in Scotland, Natasha in the U17W Discus, and Shannon in the U15G Javelin, the girls were going into the competition in a strong position competing amongst Scotland's finest athletes.

Once the earlier nerves had settled, Natasha not only through a new PB at the Discus, but also achieved a Championship Best Performance of 32.93m, outclassing the rest of the field by 5m. Shannon, although just short of her PB at the Javelin, also achieved a Championship Best Performance with a throw of 27.42m.

Both were delighted with their gold medals and returning home as Scottish champions, which shows that hard work and dedication pays off. Seeing Caithness vests on the podium at national level once again gives Caithness Amateur Athletic Club great pride and is an inspiration to the younger athletes at the club.
