'e New 'BRAT-PACK' - Season 2000-2001
For the last couple of years the older generation of the Caithness County Badminton Team were wondering, "How much bloody longer do I have to play because there are no juniors coming through....!!!!".

Well, all there worries have been answered by a new group of teenagers, or early twenty year olds, who this year have started to show how good they are, and could be, in the near future.
With little Johnny Durrand 'smashing' his way up the ranks of the 'A' team in text book style, Ian and Helen just making their breakthrough into the 'B' Team and easily winning games, Sean and Richard playing excellent badminton - so much so - that everyone is finding it difficult to beat them, Gillian and Amy cruising their way past opponents and Martyn Cook battling to pinch one of the Junior spots from Richard and Sean - with a list like that the selectors should be jumping with joy at the amount of talent coming through and the commitment they are showing.
Some of these youngsters have been attending training courses all over the North of Scotland and have obviously improved since last season - due to the results they have notched up against pairings older than themselves.
So, who is responsible for committing their time and effort to these kids, for the future of Caithness Badminton..... Well, as far as I know, without causing any bother - it is Big Sam Campbell for the Wick side and Jane Grant for the Thurso side. Anyone who knows any different, give me a shout and I will add their name to the list.
It has been brought to my attention that there are few other names that should be added to the list for their efforts with juniors, namely - Sandy Mowat - Marion McCoustra and Isobel Nicolson. Thank you for the information and I hope I have not caused any bother.
