American Tournaments - Season 2001-2002
Bird and Carole win Xmas Tournie - 15/12/01
Ten men and ten women ventured to Thurso Games Hall, for the final CBA Tournament of 2001. In all, there was a good and varied selection of players, in the arena, for the one day competition, which made for some close games and high class badminton.
After a number of games, the pack was whittled down to the eight highest scorers. This draw also determines what the pairings will be for the final, if they manage to win the semi-final game. And......., by an amazing coincidence the draw managed to pair James and Carole, together.....
James and Carole sank
Isobel 'part-time hairdresser and denim skirt maker' Mackay and Benji Mackay (no
relation, as far as I know) in no time, at all.
In the other half, David Nicolson and Alison Henderson beat Casey Sangster and Ian
Nicolson.
The final, though keenly contested by Davie and Alison - was always only going to go one way, with James and Carole proving to strong.
The highlight of the day, was the
return of KC Sangster to the badminton scene - after a short period of rest, following
some high-tech surgery to her athletic frame.
There were no complaints later on in the night, regarding her performance during the day
and her motability about the court (speaking with a glass of port in her hand).
Which left her feeling she would be ready for the next Inter-County match.
But..... With places being hard to come by, at the moment, in both county teams, is
there going to be a place ready for KC????? Read Headlines, at a later date, for
further info into this saga......
Sam and Pam win Opening Tournie - 23/10/01

The eventuall winners of the tournament were Sam Campbell and Pam Mackay. The County League 'A' Team players had no trouble disposing of their opponenets.
The next American Tournament is being held on Saturday December 15 - 2001.
All Welcome......
