YELL OPEN - Season 2003-2004 - 9 & 10/04/04
Once again a bunch of hardy Caithness travellers made the journey that entails the use of Planes, boats, mini-buses and cars - all to embrace the excellent hospitality, sporting encounters and social interactions of the Shetland general public. Although, it is probably the furthest CBA will travel, it is a trip looked forward to throughout the season.
Carole Mowat was probably the favourite to lift the Ladies Singles with
Anne Wood, Shetland - deciding to leave this one out but Morag Fox thought
different and took the first trophy of the event.
The Shetland ladies battled for the Ladies Doubles final and Anne wood &
Suzanne Henderson's continuing strong partnership left Morag Fox & Audrey
Leask with no chance of an upset.
Mark Mackay lifted the treble with partnerships from James Henderson, in the Mens Doubles and Carole Mowat in the Mixed. Their opponents tried everything they could to try and curtail the pairings but Mark and his partners have been playing in each others shadows for a long time now and they know exactly where to be at the right time.
An excellent buffet was provided pre-presentation, which helped to soak the soft drinks later on.
Finally, thanks to Shetland, Yell for an excellent tournament, buffet and after show house party and no doubt a number of us will be returning next season.
