Highland Invitation - 05&06/03/05

Below are results and pictures from the hugely successful Highland Invitation Tournament, Under 14 and Under 15 events over the weekend, which were played in Wick Games Hall and attracted a large number of competitors.

In the Under 14 singles' event - Caithness had 2 boys, Andrew Cumming and Kris Gove, who progressed to the semi-finals. Andrew Cumming and Ryan Jones had a very good match in the quarters with both boys playing very well, with lovely drop shots and they covered the court extremely well. The match could have gone in any way and Andrew just scraped through 21/18. Kris had another dog fight with Harry Wilson, Forres and again the match could have gone to either competitor but Kris fought to the end finishing with a 21/18 scoreline.
Also, in the Mixed Doubles competition, the 11 year old pairing of Jamie Henderson & Lauren Gunn exceded everyone's expectations by picking up the runners-up prize in the Under 14's event.
