Intersport (Ortak) Open - Season 2005-2006 - 11&12/11/05

Mixed Champions - Mark Mackay & Casey Sangster

An assortment of entrants from Orkney, Shetland and Caithness arrived in Kirkwall for the seasons opening tournament, the Intersport (Ortak) Open.

Not a lot to say really.... Ratter completed the treble with James Henderson - Mens Doubles, Casey Sangster carried him in the Mixed Doubles and he won the Mens Singles.

Casey & Carole battled away against their 'old rivals' and sufficiently grabbed back the trophy that they have won in the past a number of times.

A number of juniors took part this year and, hopefully, they enjoyed the occasion as it is always worth a trip at the beginning of the season.

As 'Halloween' had just passed (close enough) there was always the possibility that there could be some sort of ghost walking around the hotel in the middle of the night!!! Without fail, as KC was talking on her mobile phone in one of the upstairs corridors, a rather good looking chap ambled past with a slack and rattling belt which caught her attention, and after a further 'teet', wore no shoes and sported a hairdo like nothing she had seen before. As she progressed to light up a fag in a panic to settle her nerves, the apparition returned...... With her mouth now fully open and the cigarette balancing on her bottom lip, the transparent image softly whispered in her ear, "....the bar's run out of port and vodka ice, what you gonna do now......??? As the image began to disappear, she uttered the words only a lass from the capital would mention, "Och well, I'll just have to go onto Gin......!!!!!" - leaving the caller on the mobile phone baffled at this sudden remark..... The hotel commented that they had had reports from numerous occupants every year, for a good few years now, mentioning the same thing seems to happen and they're going to look into it!!! Will the unbuckled, un-shoed, fancy hairdo gent return next year?????
