Restricted Championships - Season 2005-2006 - 22/01/06

| Treble Winner - Stephen Hill |
Stephen Hill was the overall star in this years Restricted Championships against some competitors who were very much his seniors. This never perturbed him and he strolled on to gather a trio of trophies.
Stephen managed to beat another young up-and-coming player, Steven Mackenzie in the final of the Mens Singles competition. Although Steven M failed to grab a set, he by no means disgraced himself against a slightly stronger opponent.
The Ladies Singles was a battle between a girl's pairing who have been up against each other for a long time, although they are still only in their teens. Donna Majilton usually has the upper hand over her nemesis, Michelle Cowie - and there was to be no change in this encounter but I'm sure the latter will be battling to change her fortunes, soon.
Stephen was partnered by Abdul Mkith in the Mens Doubles and after a hard fought semi-final they were placed against another young pairing, Thomas Sutherland and Greg Cormack in the final. The match went to three sets but Stephen and Abdul had the steadier hand and finished the match with a few points to spare.
Dunnet pairing Lyndsey Coghill and Veronica Begg managed to beat the Miller Calder stalwarts, Pauline Gunn and Eileen Manson in a closely contested match and was the only final of the day not to contain any juniors.
The mixed doubles brought together Stephen with new partner, Megan Ross against a strong pairing of Mark Jones and Pauline Gunn. The match went to three sets which ebbed and flowed in both directions but with Mark seeming to struggle with a 'spanish archer' (elbow) injury in the final set and Stephen vying for his treble, there was only going to be one winner and Megan finished off the match with a cracking drop, much to the delight of both players.
