Restricted Championships - Season 2007-2008 - 19/01/08

Thurso Games Hall hosted this seasons Caithness Badminton Association - Restricted Championships.

With a good field of entrants from various areas of the county, competition was fierce and everyone had their heart set on receiving the silverware, at the end of the season.

Mark Jones has to be classed as the 'star of the day', with excellent performances throughout the event - which eventually landed him with two titles - namely, Mens Doubles and Mixed Doubles.  The Mens Doubles' win will be the title he will be most proud of, as this was won with his son, Ryan.  Something for the scrap book and good memento.

Mark lifted his second trophy, Mixed Doubles, with regular playing partner, Pauline Gunn.

Abdul & Donna continue to be the players to beat in the Ladies & Mens' singles events, with both playing strong Badminton to triumph over their opponents.

Louise Campbell and Megan Ross are still classed as juniors but should be delighted with their Ladies Doubles win against some older and more experienced players.  If they keep up this effort, play 'sensible' badminton and worry less about how they look on court - they may be able to rise to the challenge against partnerships like, county number 1 pairing, KC and Carly.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and all the best.

Results

  • Ladies Singles - Donna Majilton
  • Mens Singles - Abdul Mkith
  • Ladies Doubles - Louise Campbell & Megan Ross

  • Mixed Doubles - Mark Jones & Pauline Gunn
