Halkirk FC - Reports, Results & Photos - Season 2009-2010
End-of-Season conclusion - 26/08/09
Duck finishes with a light summary

The 2009 season is over and despite finishing in our highest league position for quite a number of years, I can't help thinking it's been yet another season of under-achievement.
We made a good start to the season with a great win in Castletown and were hopeful we could perhaps go on and challenge for the league title but, four consecutive defeats soon put an end to our supposed title challenge.
This left us with only the cups to concentrate on but the way we were knocked out of each competition is perhaps the biggest disappointment of the entire season.
Getting knocked out of both County Cups on a Monday night, when it was obvious that a few folk were suffering the effects of a heavy weekend and, the Highland Cup defeat to Avoch was a hard one to take - as we didn't really perform on the day having done a lot of the hard work in getting a draw down there.
The fact we've been able to beat every team in the first division except Wick Groats (who deservedly won the title) just adds to the frustration and the feeling of what might've been.
However, looking on a positive note, we can take heart from the way we've finished the season.
As long as we can get a good pre-season under our belts and actually start next season with a decent level of fitness, rather than waiting until June to get going, then there is no reason we can't push on from here and enjoy a successful summer next year.
Aswell as the disappointments, there have been a few highs. The away trips to Skye & Avoch in the Highland Cup being the most notable, as they were good trips with a full bus-load of players and supporters each time and went a long way to help create what is a great team spirit amongst the lads.
Here's hoping with one or two additions to the squad by Sexy, we can finally go on and bring back some long overdue silverware to Halkirk's trophy cabinet.
Go Wildcat's!!
