Halkirk FC - Reports, Results & Photos - Season 2011-2012

League Division 1 - 14/06/11
Staxigoe 3 - 3 Halkirk

This was a great point as we went into the game missing Pies, Gav B, Gunny, Kitten & Charlie, a couple of the squad were struggling badly with illness and then lost Gavie early in the game with an injury.

Our cause wasn't helped either when we conceded inside the first ten minutes after poor play by Duck.

We got ourselves back into the contest and played some good football in what was a good even contest.

We got back all-square right on the stroke of half time when a good cross by Richard was met by Del and scored with a fine looping header into the top corner.

Playing down the hill, the home side were well on top of us in the early stages of the second 45 and soon found themselves 3-1 up as we failed to retain possession and were therefore struggling to get out of our own half.

Despite the two goal deficit, our heads didn't drop and we got ourselves back in it.

Rusty grabbed a deserved goal when he scrambled home a loose ball following a corner.

Our tails were up now, could sense an equaliser and it came when Richard forced a defender into a mistake, ran through before calmly beating the keeper in a one-on-one.

The home side had the better of the territorial possession in the remainder of the game but we coped pretty comfortably with what they threw at us and pretty much restricted them to set-pieces and long range efforts.

A good point for us from an excellent display that was full of battling performances all over the pitch and also saw us produce some of our best football of the season.

Young Gordy deserves a special mention for coming in and playing well in the nets and he can hopefully take a great deal of confidence from it, as should everyone.

It just goes to show what can be achieved when the right attitude is shown and everyone is prepared to put in the expected hard work when wearing the Halkirk shirt!!

Go Wildcat's!!
