GOLF - WHALSAY GOLF COURSE
![]() |
Locals informed me that this hole, the 16th, has been classed as one of most picturesque holes in Britain. Have a visit yourself and even if it is just a story, they can't be far wrong. Lovely area of the course.

Getting closer to the 16th green. The day previous a player had left his electric trolley running to take his shot and the next he new it had rolled off the cliffs. Managed to retrieve his clubs/irons, by abseiling down, but the trolley was finished.

An Isle of Man competitor pars the tricky 16th.

The 18th. After avoiding all the other tough holes, what do they do at the last, put a lake in-front of a reachable green the size of a sixpence (just infront of the clubhouse in the distance). A teaser to go for it on a good day but the only thing full of balls here, is the lake.

Kenny Inkster (Orkney) takes the safe route and finds the fairway by a couple of mill'. There was a strong wind in the players' faces and the gamble was not on to 'scupper' their good rounds.

Still a tough shot into the final green, after playing safe. Jim has a look to see what's in the bag and Melvin, Kenny and Kenny's caddie - watch on.

Kenny finishes off with a good par on this devilish hole.

A general picture of the holes and greens, which reach out to the tip/point of the island. Lovely.....

Another great view of golfing on the edge.
