April Medal - 09 April 05
Double joy for Disbury and Chisholm

It was all about doubles at Reay at the weekend as John Disbury and Sandy Chisholm made their mark. It was also the weekend of the US Masters which gives a boost to all golfers and seems to inspire John Disbury. At the same time last year he had a memorable hole-in-one on his way to success in the Reay Medal. This year it was the division two April Medal that fell within his grasp. Steady halves of 44 and 45 showed the progress that has been made as he put together the winning score of 89 (23) 66.

Another player, who has impressed with his straight driving, is Peter McCartney (19). He finished just one stroke behind Disbury. Third place went to Andy Whitelaw on 84 (14) 70.

Sandy Chisholm has been turning in rave performances over the last six months. After challenging on all fronts in the winter competitions, Chisholm clinched the division one Medal with a score of 80 (12) 68, his second win in as many months. Chisholm had only a stroke to spare as he held off the challenge of David Dunbar. Dunbar had to battle against the worst of the wet and windy weather and though he scored an excellent gross 75, the best scratch score, a double bogey at the last cost him the Medal. Shot of the day was played by Gavin Sutherland, who holed his second at the par-4 eighth using a lob wedge.
