Thurso Junior Open - 07 August 05
Brent knows the course better to win
Brent Munro managed to win the Thurso Junior Open with an excellent round of one over par in tricky conditions. His nearest rival Gavin Sutherland won the handicap trophy by a couple of shots from Stephen Munro (Pitfirrane GC, Dunfermline) and Steven Lowe completed the prize list for players using the medal tees.
Brent's brother Liam was looking good for a double on the day, from the Junior tees, with a 66 for 18 holes but Iain Dunnett matched his score and had a better inward half. Eric Campbell came third one shot infront of Jamie Finlayson (Royal Aberdeen).
Lindsay Parsonage won the girls' six hole event, in a small field but Peter Sangster had some good scoring to win the boys trophy over James Henderson and Shane Kennedy.
The three hole events needed countback decisions and it was Nicole Cowie who just nipped it infront of Eilidh Gallagher for the girls' competition and Ronan Kennedy beat Richard Finlayson in the boys' section.
