April Medal - 22 April 06
Alistair gets second trophy, already

There was a stiff breeze making conditions difficult and the CSS dropped out to 70. With a good entry there were only 9 birdies which was disappointing and as expected the 1st played the hardest with the 13th coming in the easiest. It was going to be another tough day at the office.

There was only one birdie in Division Two and that was snapped up by Alex Anderson at the 12th hole. Last Years Division 2 Medal winner John Disbury was unable to make any impact in defending his Medal and eventually faded away with a no return. Danny O'Hagan was a bit careless on the greens and that cost him the medal but he did pick up sweep money for third with figures of (88-16-72). Ian Sutherland made a good attempt and carded (91-19-72) for second place edging out Danny on the countback. With the lowest gross score of 84 the Division Two Medal was claimed by Ian Ross with a workmanlike (84-13-71) in the tough conditions.

There was a bit more success in Division One and David Mackay made birdie at the 12th but had to nil return. Evan Sutherland picked up a birdie at the 13th and Grant Coghill broke par with a birdie at the 8th. The holder of the Medal Sandy Chisholm made a great attempt at a defence putting up (83-12-71) but eventually had to settle for 4th place.

Alan Paul making his first competitive appearance of the season made an outstanding birdie two at the 7th and took third place carding (80-12-68) as a nice warm up for the year ahead. There was a clash of the Titans for the medal as Alistair Gunn and Bruce Mackay the men in form locked horns as both tied on nett 67's with very little to separate them. These were excellent scores in the conditions and it was a shame to have to separate them. Bruce Mackay lost on the countback and with (76-9-67) had to settle for second place but still earned a reduction in handicap to 8 which he was delighted to achieve. The winner with the lowest gross score of 74 and a brace of birdies at the 6th and the 13th by the narrowest of margins was Alistair Gunn (74-7-67) picking up his second trophy this summer.
