Mens Tournaments - Season 2006-2007
Corrie Open - 15 July 06
Sponsored by Corrie Plumbing and Heating this was a beautiful summer day with near perfect golfing conditions. As is usual when conditions are excellent for golf the scoring is not always reflected and only one score broke par as the CSS fell out to 70. Being a links course golfers are more comfortable with a breeze and only 13 birdies were made and the 7th came out as the hardest hole with the 9th being the easiest par. Graeme Dunnett the Club Captain was in excellent form however and produced the best scratch score of 70 throwing in birdies at the 2nd, 4th and the 14th for good measure. Wayne Mowat birdied the 9th along with Chris Hobson and Aly Mackay of Wick made birdie at the 6th. Grant Maxwell not having the best of days still managed a birdie at the 14th. The Top three places shared a score of nett 70 and once the countback was sorted third place was awarded to Colin Paterson with 75-5-70 and birdies at the 7th and the 14th. Second place went to Graeme Dunnett with 71-1-70 and of course a wee haul of three birdies. Best in Division one was Evan Sutherland with 80-10-70. In Division two birdies were scarce. John Disbury got in on the act with a fine birdie at the 4th which is never an easy hole to reach and his 93-21-72 was good for third place. Ian Mackintosh getting into the frame on a regular basis these days scooped second with 96-25-71. The only man to break par was Ian Sutherland 86-19-67 with a birdie at the 6th and the best scratch score in Division two to lift the Corrie Open Title for 2006. He must have been getting some secret coaching or lessons on his recent trip away to the South of England.
