Bruce back on top of the pack

Bruce Mackay

This was played on an awful day as far as the weather was concerned and the entry was subsequently quite low. The CSS was 68 with 7 birdies made and the 4^th playing the hardest with the 13^th again the easiest hole.

Donald Mowat (8) had a very nice par round which included two birdies at the 6^th and the 7^th for his total of 36 points. Danny O'Hagan (16) was not playing at his best and scrambled well for 34 points and a very good three foot putt at the 15^th gave him a birdie two. Sandy Chisholm (13) also had 34 points with a birdie at the 12^th.

John Nicolson (9) struggling over recent rounds came back into form with a pair of birdie two's at the 5^th and the 15^th to come home with 39 points and take some sweep money for third place. There was a battle for the trophy as both Bruce Mackay (8) and Ian Ross (13) shared the best score of 41 points and had to be separated by the countback. Ian Ross made a birdie at the third but lost the countback and had to settle for second place for the second time in two competitions. Bruce Mackay deserved victory with an excellent gross score of 72 which translated into 41 points and a 5 under par round.
