Summer Cup Round 2 - 09 May 06
Lee bags a great scratch score

The CSS was a standard 69 and there were only 10 birdies but there was a generous breeze blowing so conditions were a bit tough. The front nine was the most troublesome with the 6th hole playing the hardest followed by the second and the easiest par was on the short fifteenth.

It was a hard day in the office for Division Two golfers with only one birdie and that came from Andy Whitelaw who broke par at the 6th. Andy also had the distinction of the lowest gross score which was a workmanlike 83. David A.Craig 102-28-74 and David O'Brien 99-25-74 had to be separated by the countback and David Craig got the nod to pick up third spot. Tidy figures of 83-13-70 from Andy Whitelaw produced a satisfactory second place. A par round of 90-21-69 was good enough for George MacDonald to pick up the first place in Division Two.

Andy Bain slotted home a birdie on the 8th which can be a tricky green to reach with John O'Brien and Alistair Gunn playing together both managing a birdie two on the short fifteenth. Bruce Mackay birdied the 6th and there was a very neat birdie for Steve Efemey at the 14th.

John O'Brien had a steady round of 75-6-69 for a neat and tidy par figures and ended in fourth place. Third was Cammie Ross who finished strongly with a birdie at the 17th for 77-9-68. Lee Parnell and Jock Eunson were both tied on nett 66 and Lee had the best scratch score which was an excellent 71. Jock lost the countback and his 77-11-66 with a birdie two at the seventh meant he was close but not close enough as that elusive win escaped again and had to settle for the runner up berth. No disputing Lee Parnell deserved victory with his 71-5-66 the best scratch score and a delightful pair of birdies from the 5th and the 13th and setting up a good score for the Summer Cup Trophy.
