Summer Cup Round 5 - 30 May 06
Joe takes pride of place

The Competition scratch was 71 and underlined this was a tough day at the office for everybody with only one score in the field breaking par. There were only 4 birdies and no surprise that the second was the toughest par to make and a big surprise to find the 10th played as the easiest.

In Division Two the lowest gross of 85 went to Chris Hobson who plotted his way round to a very steady round of 85-13-72 and third place. Chris made the only birdie in Division Two at the 13th. Playing well and bringing his handicap down steadily was David O'Brien who carded 95-24-71 taking second place. Winning Division two was Ian Mackintosh also with a gradually reducing handicap to shoot 95-25-70 making an excellent sand save out of the trap at the 18th to finish with a sound par.

There was not much to write about in Division One as the strong breeze played havoc with the scorecards. Donald Mowat got his customary birdie 2 at the 5th but not much else. Gavin Sutherland toiled for a birdie at the 14th but with the exams over will be getting plenty practice in and be in contention more often

John O'Brien had the best scratch score of 77 and finished up 77-5-72 to take third place. With the O'Brien brothers in the field they both got into the sweep money once again but not quite as good as the last round where they both came out on top. Still maintaining great form was Cammie Ross in second place as he came home with figures of 79-9-70 and a definite dark horse for the Club Championships. Pride of place goes to Joe Wilson making a rare appearance but as always a quality round with a birdie two at the 7th to be the only player under par in difficult conditions and winning Division One with figures of 79-11-68.
