Mens Tournaments - Season 2007-2008
Banks Medal - 22 September 07
The weather wasn't too bad for this summer and there was a fair breeze making conditions a bit tricky. The CSS was 72 so scoring was not too impressive with as ever the 5th the easiest par and for a change the 11th was the hardest par with only one golfer making par. There were only seven birdies which was poor considering the course and greens were in excellent condition. The Banks medal was a re-arranged fixture due to the Ulbster Cup transferring from Thurso to Reay last weekend. Sandy Chisholm found life at bit tough at the office with a nil return but still managed to make a birdie at the 16th. Steve Efemey 84-8-76 started well with a good birdie at the 6th and Wayne Mowat 80-6-74 produced a fine birdie at the 13th. John O'Brien 80-6-74 was not on the best form but still managed a birdie two at the 15th to smarten up his card. Alistair Gunn 80-7-73 was also on the birdie trail with a grandstand finish making a two at the 18th. Pete McCartney 85-13-72 had to settle for fourth place after the count-back. Murray McGlasson 82-10-72 had a strong finish with a birdie at the 16th to take third place and pick up some sweep money. The lowest gross of the day went to Neil McDonald 75-4-71 with a birdie at the 14th in his round of 75 which gave Neil the second berth. Winning the Banks Medal and his third trophy of the season was the seasoned campaigner Murdo MacDonald 82-12-70 with a polished performance. End-of-Document |
