Mens Tournaments - Season 2007-2008

Captain's Charity - 25 August 07
Kenny wins with better back nine

For the Captain's Charity this year Ian Ross chose the RNLI to receive the day's proceeds. For fun players fined themselves for various misdemeanours such as going out of bounds, landing in a water hazard etc to boost the donation to RNLI funds. The CSS was 69 with eleven birdies and the 7th hole was the hardest par with as ever the easiest par at the 5th. For each birdie scored the Captain had to pay a fine.

Grant Maxwell didn't score as well as normal and was having an off day but still managed to bag a pair of birdies at the 5th and 6th. The lowest gross went to Alistair Gunn with a 77 and his 77-7-70 put him third after the countback. Murdo MacDonald shot 82-12-70 for second place making birdie at the 6th and 17th edging out Alistair Gunn on the count back. Colin Stewart with 80 -11-69 was the best in Division One also making a birdie at the 6th and a very good par round.

In Division Two Ian Ross and Allyn Sutherland both made a birdie two at the 5th and Will McLeod made a birdie two at the 15th. There was a three way tie for third place and third went to John Robb 88-17-71 on the countback seeing off Will McLeod 99-28-71 and Bill McIntosh 90-19-71. Danny O'Hagan was having a field day with 85-15-70 shooting no less than three birdies including two two's at the 6th, 9th and the 18th for a grandstand finish to take second place. Kenny Farmer 84-15-69 with the best scratch score in Division Two was the man who claimed the trophy having a better back nine than Colin Stewart.
