April Medal - 07 April 07
Allyn wins Div 2 Medal at 15

Conditions were blustery for the April medal with the wind getting stronger as the day progressed. It was a day for survival rather than scoring and the CSS of 71 and only 12 birdies showed how tough it really was. The 17th was the hardest hole with only one player in the field making par closely followed by the 2nd. The 6th and the 14th

In Division Two Peter McCartney was having a good day at the office with birdies at the 6th and the 14th but sadly a couple of untidy holes put him out him out of contention. Stuart Greig made birdie at the 12th then tore his card up as life got a bit tough. In third place was George Prince 88-13-75 losing out on countback to Billy Moore with a battling 97-22-75 to take second. George at least had the consolation of the best gross score in Division two of 88. Winning the April Medal convincingly was the youngster Allyn Sutherland who at 15 years old was the youngest in the field with a fine score of 92-23-69 taking the medal with par figures.

The leader board in Division One had familiar faces in contention but all struggling in the wind. Bob Earnshaw fresh from the fairways of New Zealand and an Asian tour got a superb birdie two at the 5th. Colin Stewart had a brace sinking putts at the 6th and the 10th. Club Captain Ian Ross also made birdie at the 6th showing the new water hazard held no fears. John Nicolson 77-6-71 had to settle for fourth place on countback and had the satisfaction of a birdie at the 14th.

Cammie Ross 81-10-71 pinched third on countback with a fine birdie at the 16th into the teeth of the wind for a strong back 9. David Mackay 77-7-70 made second spot his own courtesy of a birdie two at the 5th and some tidy golf. When it's tough you can always rely on the quiet man from the west John O'Brien 73-5-68 who knuckled down to the task and brought home the lowest gross score of 73 to claim the April Medal. John made birdie at the 14th and really had a grandstand flourish with a wonderful birdie two at the 18th in very difficult conditions.
