Reay Mixed Open -
05 August 07
Enjoyable day out in likeable weather
THE Reay Mixed Open was blessed with a pleasant day last Sunday. Conditions both underfoot and overhead favoured enjoyable golf for the 18 participating pairs.
The overall leaders, Tricia and Neil McDonald, balanced their bogey start with a birdie at the second. Carol and Colin Paterson, who birdied the fifth, missed their birdie putt at the 18th to be the only pairing to start and finish their round with a par three.
Half the field parred the 18th, while only two couples parred the first - the others being Harry and Doreen Cormack.
Reay kirk will remain memorable for the Hawes partnership who, at this 16th hole, appeared to take time out for a practice session. At this stage any potential for the championship was abandoned. They did, however, complete their round and finished with a par.
