The fixture had to be moved to bank Holiday Monday to accommodate the re-arranged Rotary Club Open. The weather was poor and the CSS of 72 showed how tough the course was playing. It was unusual to find the 16th the hardest hole and the 13th ranked as the easiest and disappointing to find only three birdies.
Donald Mowat (Mojo) and Grant Maxwell both made birdie on the 13th but neither were able to challenge for the Medal. Sandy Chisholm had the only other birdie with a two at the short 5th hole. Joe Wilson had the lowest gross of the day with an 84 and figures of 84-11-73.
Three players shared third spot with nett 73's and after the countback was applied it was Danny O'Hagan on 89-16-73 who secured third place edging out Joe Wilson 84-11-73 and Kenny Farmer 88-15-73. There was a battle for the medal with scores tied on nett 69 and again the countback was applied. Coming close was Tim Hawes 90-21-69 for his par round losing out by the narrowest of margins to young Hugh Tunn a very promising young teenager also with figures of 90-21-69 who had the better back nine.
