The weather was not at its best with a constant misty drizzle as the CSS of 70 testified making the course play a bit tough. Only eight birdies fell all day with the 18^th the hardest hole and the 13^th the easiest which is quite a change from recent weeks.

Neil McDonald enjoyed a rare day in the field snapping up the lowest scratch score of 78 and a triple haul of birdies at the 6^th, 13^th and the testing 17^th. Grant Maxwell also got his customary birdie but left it a bit late in the round waiting until the 16^th. Joe Wilson another man making a rare appearance made a very good birdie two at the 7^th where par is always a grateful score so birdie was excellent.

Fourth place went to Donald Mowat 82-10-72 in a steady but uneventful round. David J Mowat made a fine birdie at the 13^th also producing a steady card for 90-20-70. Danny O’Hagan produced another characteristic round always on the fairway, and figures of 84-15-69 gave Danny a par round and secured the runners up position.

The man with the best day in the office and the only score to break par was the Trophy winner Chris Hobson 80-12-68. Chris had a fine time on the greens getting a long putt to fall for birdie at the 12^th and then a further birdie at the 16^th for a popular victory.

On Saturday members contest the Beinn Ratha Medal and on Sunday nerves will be jangling in the Final of the Club Championships. Reay Golf Club takes this opportunity to extend congratulations to Thurso GC the Wilson Cup winners for 2007.
