Summer Cup & Strokeplay Championship - Season 2007-2008
Summer Cup Round 12 -
17 July 07
After a super day for the U.S.Navcommsta Open it was disappointing to be back playing in miserable conditions again. The Course in excellent condition is standing up very well to all the rain and at least feet are dry on the links even if the rain is lashing down. The CSS was 68; the hardest hole the second and the easiest par the 5th. Bill McIntosh made a birdie two on the 5th and even that didn't smarten up a dreadful score. In Division 2 only two returned scores and second was Danny O'Hagan with 87-14-73 and with the best gross of 82 Andy Bain came home with 82-14-68 to break par. They fared better in Division 1 with Pete McCartney being the only man to no return. Colin Paterson made a fine birdie two at the 5th as did Lee Parnell. A grand total of four shared the best scratch score of 75 and these were John O'Brien, Gavin Sutherland, Raymond Taylor and Lee Parnell. Scoring was very tight with four sharing the best nett of 70 and three 71.
Donald Mowat 79-8-71 made birdie at the 13th, Raymond Taylor 75-4-71 made birdie at the 10th and Lee Parnell 75-4-71 made birdie at the 5th to all share fifth place. After the countback the fourth placed was Gavin Sutherland 75-7-70 who was once again on the birdie trail and only three birdies this time falling at the 6th, 13th and the 15th. In third was Steve Efemey 78-8-70 and making birdie at the 6th. Second berth went to Grant Maxwell 77-7-70 also with a birdie at the 6th. With the strongest back nine top spot went to Club Champion, John O'Brien 75-5-70 which included a fine birdie two at the 15th. This score helped John into the lead in the hunt for the Summer Cup with an aggregate total of 413 for 6 rounds. Second is Stuart Greig hanging in there with 414 and Donald Mowat third on 415. Only one shot further back on 416 is Grant Maxwell, then Gavin Sutherland on 417 and on 418 hovers Colin Paterson. Anybody can yet leap out of the pack with 5 rounds to go. End-of-Document |
