Summer Cup Round 5 - 29 May 07
Lee conquers bad weather to win

It's been the story of the summer so far - poor weather and a devastated field for Summer Cup Rd 5. The CSS stood at 69 so players coped well with the conditions with the course giving up ten birdies. Easiest par was very strangely the 4th with the 8th playing the hardest.

Division two saw a birdie for Brian Davidson at the 18th in a grandstand finish. Allyn Sutherland made 102-19-83 for second spot as only two players returned a card. Top man was the other youngster Hugh Tunn on good form with his handicap falling rapidly on 88-20-68. This included a birdie for Hugh at the notorious 17th with the best score of the day.

Division one saw Gavin Sutherland make birdie at the 10th a fine effort in the wind as it is the most exposed hole to the elements. John O'Brien birdied the 4th and Donald Mowat the 16th. David Mackay was in good form sinking two birdies on the back nine at the 14th and the 16th.

Steve Efemey lost out on the countback and settled for third on 80-9-71 but had the satisfaction of a fine birdie two at the 5th which always smartens up the card. Alistair Gunn upset the golfing gods by scoring a great birdie two at the opening hole which usually means you can tear up the card as the course doesn't like that, but Alistair brought home second place with 77-6-71 to defy the superstitions and the golfing gods. Lowest gross belonged to Lee Parnell with a 74 and a birdie at the 11th brought Lee to top spot with 74-4-70.
