Summer Cup Round 7/Strokeplay Rnd 2 - 12 June 07
Danny strolls win in bad conditions

For those that played in the morning conditions were very poor particularly from a persistent misty rain but by the evening conditions were very favourable. The CSS was 69, the hardest par the 8th and the easiest the 15th with a huge haul of 23 birdies as the greens reach peak conditions before the Open on Saturday. The 13th gave up 5 birdies.

Colin Paterson had the best tally of birdies with three coming at the 3rd, 11th and the 14th. Alan Paul making a rare appearance grabbed birdies at the 14th and a two at the 15th. There was a double haul for Murray McGlasson at the 10th and 13th and a warning he will have new clubs by the Open so will be a force to contend with and we can expect to see some powerful shots. Grant Maxwell birdied the 6th and Brad Smith had back to back birdies at the 13th and 14th. Raymond Taylor made birdie at the 3rd and Colin Stewart chipped in with a birdie at the 12th.

Further up the field Alec Anderson was making a real assault with a hat trick of birdies at 12th, 13th and a two at the 18th to finish 82-11-71. John O'Brien made birdie at the 17th for 74-5-69 but lost out on countback with Stuart Greig on 81-12-69 who had a two at the challenging 7th. In second place was Gavin Sutherland with 73-5-68 which included birdies at the 6th and the 13th. Making birdie at the 10th Gavin Gunn had a tidy round for 76-9-67 and some good progress in the summer Cup.

In Division two Andy Bain had a disaster of a round running up a 14 but kept his composure to fire in two birdie two's at the 15th and 18th in a strong finish. David R.Craig made his first appearance of the season and was straight into the sweep money with third place and 93-23-70 edging out Les Patrick on the countback ho had an 83-13-70. Kenny Farmer shook of his recent lean spell and showed some good form in second place with a neat 83-15-68. Playing in the worst of the weather Danny O'Hagan was the star of the day with his approach shot at the 13th only two inches away from being an eagle. A super birdie in a flawless round of 81-16-65 saw Danny win very comfortably.
