Summer Cup Round 9/Strokeplay Rnd 4 (Final) - 26 June 07
Colin & Stuart cruise to wins

The Final round of the Strokeplay Championship also doubles up as round nine of the Summer Cup. The CSS was 69 and the stats showed the second was the toughest hole with the 5th the easiest. The is a much prized trophy as it is over four rounds and ranks not far behind the Club Championship.

There was much huffing and puffing in Division two with not a lot of golf being played and scoring was quite high. Tony Wratten took third with 107-28-79. Hugh Tunn was second with 93-17-76 and the best player was Willie Williamson with 93-20-73.

As expected there were a few late charges in Division 1 and a few birdies. David Mackay bagged a pair with birdies at the 3rd and the 6th. Colin Paterson and Evan Sutherland both made birdie at the 6th and Lee Parnell smartened up his card with a two at the 15th.

In fourth was Stuart Greig with 80-11-69 which included a birdie two at the 15th to keep him in the hunt for the Keoltag Salver. Alec Anderson in great form in recent weeks again put in a very good score of 77-11-66 but had to settle for third on the countback. Sparked on by a new set of clubs that work better Murray McGlasson had his best round of the season with a super 76-10-66 sneaking into second spot with the better back nine. Donald Mowat made the biggest advance with a 72-9-63 and a grandstand birdie two at the 18th but too late to pinch a trophy to win more than comfortably on the evening.

Once the dust settled and the calculator got a bashing the winner of the Keoltag Salver with the best four scores for the nett Strokeplay Championship was Stuart Greig by a margin of 8 shots. Stuart had rounds of 70-68-63-67 for a total of 268. Donald Mowat was second with a great late charge with a grand total of 276 and third was Alec Anderson on 285.

The 2007 Strokeplay Champion is Colin Paterson who stuck to the task with dogged determination as others fell by the wayside. Colin won by five clear shots with rounds of 79-77-75-76 for a total of 307 and a popular champion. Donald Mowat was second again with a total of 312 despite a valiant effort in the last round. Stuart Greig was third with 320.
