| Grant Maxwell - Ward Trophy winner |
A cracking start to the season weather wise brought out a fairly good field to contest the first silverware of the season. There were two trophies at stake and the format was Stableford to get everybody off to a gentle start. The CSS was 69 and the field produced ten birdies with no surprise to find the second hole playing the toughest and the 15th the easiest.
In the Ward Trophy where the handicap limit was 18 the scoring was really tightly bunched. Gavin Sutherland the Club Champion had an off day finding points hard to come by but made birdie at the 6th and had a grandstand finish with a two at the 18th. Alistair Gunn had a fine Birdie two at the 9th in a tidy round. Lee Parnell found the cup for a birdie at the 13th and 32 points. Five players shared 33 points each as the field bunched. Don Mackay (Jnr) had a brace of birdies at the 6th and the 12th for his 34 points in a three way tie for fourth with John O'Brien and Kenny Farmer.
Colin Stewart had a good day at the office as he made a pair of two's with birdies at the 5th and the 15th to smarten up the card and take third place with 35 points. Also on 35 points was Gavin Gunn with a birdie two at the 15th but with the better back nine Gavin sneaked into second place. The winner of the Ward trophy with a birdie at the 14th was the hard working Grant Maxwell with a very tidy card and 36 points making par for the course and a very popular win.

| Hugh Miller - High Handicap winner |
The High Handicap Trophy was also fiercely contested and sadly no birdies. John Disbury played steadily for 32 points and took third place. George Robertson always around the podium was there again on 33 points to make second place his own. The runaway winner in a class of his own was Hugh Miller with a superb tally of 37 points and the only man under par on the day.
