Reay Open (36) - 28 June 08
Gavin and John secure trophies

Fifty players, some from as far afield as Aboyne, stepped out in far from ideal weather conditions to compete in the 36 hole Reay Open, sponsored by Dounreay Communities Fund.

The weather did not help in encouraging low scoring with only a handful of players matching their handicaps.

At the end of the two rounds the scratch positions put Lee Parnell in third place with a two round total of 151.  However, the top positions had to be decided on the better second round between Andy Mowat and Gavin Sutherland, both on 146, with Gavin taking the honours.

The handicap places were more clear cut with Fred Groves securing third on 139, Alex Mackay taking second with an equally divided 138.  The top spot was John O'Brien with the clear lead on 136.
