Mixed Tournaments - Season 2009-2010

Caithness Golf Week (Reay) - 03 August 09
Lee top of the pile

The final leg of the long good weekend of Golf at Reay, was the start of a longer week of Golf in the County, as Reay played host to Golf Week.

With this being a stableford competition, the words of light entertainment (and good golfer) god, Mr Bruce Forsythe, was ringing in everyone's ears; 'points make prizes'.

In the men's section it was Lee Parnell who amassed the most points. Birdies at the 4th (where he had to remove a fish from his putting line!) and the ninth helped Lee to an impressive 36 points in a howling gale.

Just one point back was Bruce Mackay. Always a contender when the wind blows, Mackay scored 35 points, with the highlight a birdie at the 13th.

Third place came down to a countback with Alf Williamson, narrowly missing out to Ali Mackay; both players shooting 32 points.

In the ladies section, Alison Ross blew the field away with an awesome 38 points. Alison recently accompanied Lee Parnell in a recent mixed pairs event, but I'll leave it to the reader to decide who's game has improved as a result!!

Her nearest challenger, Maggie Fecitt was some seven shots back on a respectable 31 points.
