Disbury strolls away with win
After more shuffling than Paul Daniels' favourite pack of cards, this winters fixtures finally got underway over the last couple of weekends.
First on the cards was the first of the winter Medals, October style.
Whilst a vast majority of the field managed to play to somewhere close to their handicap, only five players took advantage of the slightly shorter winter course and beat their playing handicap.
Billy Moore and Bob Earnshaw, with net 68 and 67 respectively narrowly missed out on a podium place, the latter on count-back to Wayne Mowat, who's fantastic back nine of gross 32, saw him take third spot also with net 67.
In second place was Alistair Gunn, whose score of 73 (8) 65 was aided and abetted by two birdies at the 13th and 18th.
However, head and shoulders above the field on this occasion and booking his place at next year's prize-giving was John Disbury, after a lengthy lay-off from the winner's enclosure. Two steady halves of 42 strokes saw John round in 84 (20) 64. The highlight of John's superb round was a birdie 3 at the par four 16th hole.
