Club Championship Finals - 20 June 10

Sunday saw the culmination of the Reay Golf Club Championships. In the scratch event defending champion Don MacKay took on the in form Cammy Ross.

Don had beaten Gavin Gunn and Mark Parsonage in the quarter and semi finals, whilst Cammie had accounted for regular playing partner John O'Brien and Wayne Mowat.

The decisive blows in the final came at the 5th and 6th where a brace of birdies for Don gave him an early lead of 3 up which he never relinquished thanks to some nerveless chipping and putting, finally running out winner 3 and 2 at the 16th.

In the handicap club championship Alistair Gunn took on Steve Efemey, 43, in the final, with both players previous winners of the event.

In this tight game Steve, a single hole to the good at the turn, doubled his lead with a birdie at the 10th. It was then a case of hold on to what you've got as Steve managed to nurse the advantage to the 17th where a par was good enough to take the title 2 and 1.

In the seniors club championship a resurgent Bill Budding ran into Reay's answer to David Leadbetter - Evan Sutherland.

Another closely fought matchplay final saw Evan run out the winner on the final hole, beating Bill just 1 up.
