June Medal - 05 June 10

The larks larked and the sun, yes the sun, beat down on a large field assembled to do battle for the kudos of henceforth being known as the 2010 June Medal winner.

In category 1 it was a two man battle; mono a mono if you will; Mowat a Mowat, as namesakes and playing partners on the day Andy and Donald (Mojo) Mowat went head to head for the title.

Mojo leapt from the traps like a greyhound on performance enhancing substances with the rarest of birdie twos at the gargantuan 236 yard par 3 first!

Rapid was the riposte from Andy; birdying the fourth and then racking up three 3s in five holes to turn in gross 34. Getting a royal buffeting in the wake of this imperious golfing display, it was all Mojo could do to stay in touch.

Turning in 37 Donald then re-galvanised himself into some sub-par action of his own, recording birdies at the 12th and 15th. This menagerie of birdies meant that the Mowats were all square teeing it up on the last hole. And it was Andy who held his nerve to par the last versus Mojo's bogie to take the title.

In category two Alan Paul took the spoils. Playing off 13 Alan shot a gross score the envy of many in category 1; His 77 giving him the lowest net (64) of the day.

Second in category 2 was Tim Hawes (68) narrowly pipping the resurgent Bill Budding into third on countback.
