Caithness Golf Week - Thurso - 04 August 09
Good day out for all but a bit windy
It was all go at Thurso on Tuesday with a Caithness Golf Week event being played as well as the usual seniors and ladies competitions.
There was a good turn out of visiting players for the Golf Week Stableford.
Graeme Henderson kept up his League form and won the higher handicap category with 39 points beating handicap champion Stephen Bremner on count back.
Davie Irvine picked up third place in the category with 33 points.
Bryan Ronald had 34 points to win the scratch award and Reay's Lee Parnell won the lower handicap category with 36 points relegating Hamish Boyd and Ronnie Gray to second and third places respectively after both scored 35 points.
Maureen Johnson (Wick) was the leading lady with 33 points. Her club mate Val Balfour was awarded second place after beating Reay's Alison Ross on count back, both having scored 32 points.
Most of the seniors found the inward nine hard going but Jim Johnston was in fine form and added 18 points to 20 for his outward nine and a winning total of 38 points, one ahead of Bob Black who also had 20 points on the way out. Ronnie Williamson was third with 36 points.
