Kennedy finishes in style

Alan Kennedy was a comfortable winner of the Medal. He survived a triple bogey eight at the fourth hole to get to the turn in 42 shots and added 40 more, including a birdie three at the seventeenth, for a gross 82, nett 66.

Count back was needed to sort out second and third places after Gavin Souter and Keith Dreaves both returned nett 68's. Souter had everything from a two, at the fifth, and an eight, at the eighth, in an outward nine of 39 but his inward nine of 40 was more even and earned him second place by a shot from Dreaves who played a steady round.

An experienced trio of Dave Thom, Gordon Bailey and Ronnie Gray were next best on nett 69 and Alan Swanson's gross 71 was the day's lowest round.
