Senior Tournaments - Season 2009-10
EGGS Winter Stableford 12 & 13 - 22 & 29 December 09
Donald Jack wins title
The final two rounds of the EGGS Winter Stableford fell victim to the weather and so Donald Jack was declared winner with a very fine aggregate six round total of 212 points.
Dave Lyall and Pat Valentine shared second place on 204 points.
Gary Henderson, Jim Buchan and Sandy Stewart will also start the Winter Eclectic off lower handicaps after finishing in fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively.

Donald stretches away and becomes favourite
The seniors got back on to the main greens for the first time in three weeks and Donald Jack made himself an odds on favourite to win the EGGS Winter Stableford after a winning 39 point effort that included three two's, at the fifth, ninth and fourteenth holes.
David Warren had a good day too with 38 points.

Jim sneaks it by 1 shot
For the second week in succession the seniors had to settle for some frosty frolics on an improvised course as the main greens were frostbound.
For a while it looked as if Donald Farquhar might repeat last week's success with a nett 69 but later starter Jim Hawthorn improved by eight shots the second time round and pipped Farquhar by a shot.
Sandy Stewart was a third on nett 70 after some very consistent scoring.
Frolics of a different sort are on the menu on Tuesday at the EGGS Christmas lunch. Those who haven't already got their names down should contact Bob Black as soon as possible.

Donald tackles the freeze and wins
Frostbound greens on Tuesday did not stop the seniors having a bit of competition on an improvised layout using temporary winter greens.
Donald Farquhar mastered the unusual conditions best with 33 Stableford points with Dave Lyall and Billy Hossack two points further back.
Remarkably, considering the uneven surfaces on the temporary greens, Hossack got a two on the fifth and, even more remarkably, other twos were recorded by Gary Henderson, also on the fifth, and Gordon Bailey, on the third.
Golf is a funny old game!
EGGS Winter Stableford 8 - 24 November 09
Mitchell wins with 20 point inward half
George Mitchell was the latest winner in the EGGS Winter Stableford when a fine inward nine of 20 points got him up to 36 points to win by a point from Donald Jack.
Jim Johnston was alone on 34 points with Pat Valentine and Bob Black a further point away.
With five rounds remaining Jack is in the lead with a best six round total of 306 points, two ahead of Dave Lyall and Valentine.
EGGS Winter Stableford 7 - 17 November 09
Valentine wins by three and into overall lead
There was some surprisingly good scoring in dreadful conditions in Round 7 of the EGGS Winter Stableford on Tuesday as torrential rain fell throughout the inward nine for all of the players.
Club Captain Pat Valentine was in tremendous form following up a very impressive 20 point outward nine with an even more impressive inward nine of 18 points for a total of 38 points, three clear of Donald Jack in second place.
Jim Buchan and Gary Henderson shared third place with 34 points.
Valentine's round took him into the lead at the halfway stage of the competition with a best six round total of 204 points, one better than Dave Lyall.
EGGS Winter Stableford 6 - 10 November 09
Sandy holds out for win
Scoring was a bit lower in the sixth round of the EGGS Winter Stableford on Tuesday when Sandy Reid claimed first place with 36 points.
Reid had 18 points in each half with a fine birdie at the seventeenth balancing a blank at the opening hole.
Ian Fraser followed up a fine nett 64 on Saturday with 35 points on Tuesday to share second place with Pat Valentine. Sandy Stewart and Ronald Mackay were next best on 34 points.
EGGS Winter Stableford 5 - 03 November 09
Lyall wins and has handicap cut
Handicap reductions in EGGS competitions make no allowances for the time of year and are strictly administered as Dave Lyall found out on Tuesday, being cut by two, after winning the fifth round of the Winter Stableford with an excellent total of 42 points, 24 of those coming on the inward nine.
Lyall was six points clear of Gary Henderson who has made a good start to the League.
Ronald Mackay was next best on 34 points.
