Peter triumphs with consistent scoring

All of the players who broke nett 70 in the first round of the Freswick Trophy failed to feature in the second and final round on Saturday so Peter O'Hare, who added a nett 70 on Saturday to the same score in the first round, emerged as trophy winner with a two round total of 140. Dave Thom and Club Captain Pat Valentine were a shot behind the winner.

Stuart leads the way in first round

The Freswick Cup is one of the oldest trophies in Thurso Golf Club's display cabinet and the last one to be contested this season. After Saturday's first round the competition is wide open with nine players within four shots of leader Stuart Bell going into the second and final round.

Bell had a fine first nine on Saturday but slipped up at the tenth and eleventh before steadying the ship and coming in with a nett 66 to beat Alf Williamson by a shot.

Eann McIntosh was third on nett68, one ahead of Davie Irvine.

So, with five players on nett 70 aswell, it's game on for the Freswick cup.
