Ronnie Williamson Autumn Open - 10 October 09
Wylie wins in dramatic finale
There was a good turn out for the postponed Ronnie Williamson Autumn Open at Thurso Golf Club on Saturday that included a few visitors from the east of the county. One of those was Wick's Michael McAllan who took second place in last month's RNLI Open at Thurso.
McAllan had another good round on Saturday, getting to the turn in 39, four over par, but a seven at the fifteenth hole was to prove costly as the outcome of the competition was settled on count back after McAllan and Edgar Wylie, from the home club, both headed the leader board with nett 71's.
Wylie was also out in 39 shots and back in 42, despite a seven at the seventeenth, and so won the count back by a shot leaving McAllan in second place again.
Count back was also required to sort out the higher handicap with late starter Jason Simpson prevailing over Jack Johnstone after both returned nett 72's.
