Nicky moves up listing with good round

Bryan Ronald had one of his poorer rounds in last week's Newsbeat Summer League but is still the League leader with a best eight round total of 290 at the halfway stage.

Nicky Doherty moved into third place after a very impressive round in the Wednesday session. Out in one under par for 23 points, Doherty ended up with 41 points to win by two from Jason Simpson whose only real error was a blank at the seventh hole where a lot of high scores have been returned recently.

Mick Ross and Walter Rutherford, now second in the League, were two points behind Simpson and a point clear off John Morrison and young Greg McEwan.

Another young player, Jordan Youngson, came out on top of the Thursday session after a four way count back with Alf Williamson, Andy MacGregor and Ronald Mackay who finished in that order after all scored 38 points. Interestingly, all four players had 20 points on the way out and 18 on the way in.

Stephen Williamson was fifth with 37 points, one clear of Ian Fraser and Stuart Bell.
