Adrian wins in windy conditions

The front runners in the Newsbeat Summer League were all in fine form in the Wednesday session last week with Walter Rutherford cutting the gap between him and leader Bryan Ronald to four points after a 40 point winning effort in relatively windy conditions. Rutherford was only one over par for an outward nine of 21 points.

Second placed Pat McVey was a point better for his outward nine and went on to return a 38 point total, one ahead of Ronald, Charlie Burness, Ricky Eunson and Roddy Harper. Doherty shared 36 points with Stephen Bremner.

Windy conditions still prevailed the following day but they didn't bother rookie Adrian Williams who won his first competition with 42 points, 22 of those on the outward nine.

Despite failing to score at the tenth hole, Dave Lyall pipped Lachie Sutherland for second place with an inward nine of 19 points, both having totals of 39 points.

Ronnie Dunnett was next best on 38 points, one ahead of Andrew Mackay, James Taylor, Ronnie Matheson and Jim Meiklejohn.
