Summer League 16 - 29/30 July 09
Henderson plays well in the wind

Windy weather prevailed throughout last week and kept scores in check in all competitions at Thurso Golf Club.

The top points total in the Newsbeat Summer League was provided by Graeme Henderson on Wednesday with a winning total of 38, 22 of those on the inward nine.

Eann McIntosh also had a good inward nine of 21 points to claim second place with 37 points, a total shared by Jack McCracken.

Thursday belonged to a group of senior players who were out early and got the best of the day.

Ronald Mackay had a very consistent front nine for 18 points and bit of an up and down inward nine that none the less yielded a further 19 points for a winning total of 37 points.

Mackay's playing partner Sandy Wright was out in 20 points and held on in the back nine to claim second place with 36 points, one ahead of George Mitchell who also had 20 points on the way out.

Henderson and Mackay both improved their League positions, to sixth and seventh respectively but with five rounds remaining it is still club champion Bryan Ronald who leads with a best nine round total of 338, four ahead of Nicky Doherty.

Walter Rutherford is third with 328 points, three in front of Jason Simpson who improved by four points last week.
