Ladies Tournaments - Season 2010-2011

Contents:- Club Champs & Medal -|- Other Ladies results

3 Club Goblet - 24 August 10

On Tuesday the 3 Club Goblet was played over 13 holes and it provided some consolation for Anne Simmonite who had a winning nett 69 with Isobel Kirkpastrick filling the runner up position.

Thurso Ladies Open - 21 August 10

There was an excellent turn out for Saturday's open, sponsored by LED, with players from Edinburgh, Moray and Orkney as well as all the local clubs.

Regrettably a very strong wind made life very difficult for the players and made the scores much higher than usual and probably favoured the home players, who took the top positions.

Nadia Green, Eileen Manson and Audrey Dunnett shared the best scratch score and finished in that order after count back.

The handicap winner was Moira McBeath who beat Angela Williamson by a shot.

Thurso Ladies Club Championships - 20 August 10

Eileen Manson's short game had a major role in the scratch championship against Laura Durrand that she won by 3&2. The match was all square after 11 holes but Manson won the next three and halved the following two for victory.

Laura's mum, Anne Simmonite, could have earned the family bragging rights but lost out in the final to Alison Campbell who won at the eighteenth after an up and down match.

Cancer Relief - 17 August 10

Tunn was more successful the following week when she won the Cancer Relief competition with a nett 70. Moira Mcbeath was runner up.

Mackay Cup - 27 July 10

The ladies contested the Mackay Cup on Tuesday with Eileen Manson's nett 70 prevailing. Runner-up Anne Simmonite's nett 72 included an eagle two at the eighth.

Kilearnan Cup - 20 July 10

Liz Mackay and Angela Williamson were convincing winners of the Kilearnan Cup, played to the greensome format, on Tuesday with a nett 73.

Smith Trophy - 22 June 10

The ladies enjoyed wonderful warm and calm conditions for their competition on Tuesday.

The Smith Trophy for pairs, using a high/low handicap format, was closely contested and won by Eleanor Tunn and Alice Fidler who beat Moira McBeath and Angela Williamson by a shot with their nett 72.5.

SLGA Brooch - 15 June 10

This week conditions were superb as Alice Fidler claimed the SLGA Brooch with a nett 71, beating Nadia Green on count back. Angela Williamson also had nett 71 but had to settle for third place.

Pendleton Plate & Committee Cup / Captain & Vice Captain prizes - 18 & 25 May 10

Eileen Manson has had a couple of successful weeks in the Ladies competitions.

Last week she won the Pendleton Plate, by three shots from Alison Campbell, with a nett 72 and this week won the Captain's prize with an excellent nett 68.

Aileen Kiddie won the Committee Cup last week with a nett 82, four shots ahead of Stephanie Disbury.

The Vice Captain's prize was won by Alice Fiddler with a nett 72.

Dornoch Team Open - 09 May 10

The ladies also decided not to play on Tuesday but they did enjoy some success at Royal Dornoch on Saturday.

A team made up of Eileen Manson, Alison Campbell and former member Kerry Sinclair, now Fortrose, claimed second place out of 59 teams with a nett 64 over the Championship Course.

First Night - 13 April 10

There was an excellent turn out of 25 ladies for their opening night on Tuesday. Beginners were given the opportunity to play with more experienced in an informal Texas Scramble.
